that was years ago, back in 1985 and it was reportedly the Juventus fans and not the english who kicked it off. actually it's been Italian fans who's been in the news regarding their hooliganism moreso in recent times.

what you're naively suggesting is that football violence is really only an english problem, and that (especially) Scotland and every other country has no anti-social footie hooliganism problems at all. it's like you're looking for reasons to diss the english when there's nothing left to complain about lol.

Not really, when I said that the English had the worst fans it wasnt just the hooliganism that I was referring to, it was their built-in hatred of pratically every single other country in the world, their superior attitude to everybody else, their arrogance, their inability to accept defeat, their need to always blame someone else for their own failures/defeats etc etc

built in hatred of other countries, superior attitude and inability to accept defeat? that's total rubbish. we're one of the most tolerant countries in the world considering. there's been no revolution yet after WWII with immigration etc.

we do accept defeat, and we have been beaten many times. you might often get a little bit of trouble after a match by a few but that's britains binge drinking culture (scotland has their fair share of chavs also). sure maybe there were a time we considered ourselves better than we were but at least it keeps positive thinking and spurring support on, i guess this is why we have got so much further in the past if not winning major international trophies. no point going into a tournament with no belief and England were one of the best football teams in the world, we were much higher in the rankings than we are now. maybe our small successes really just grates on the scots a little.

besides, it's this same blind superior attitude of personal hatred thrown towards the english (that's how it comes across) assuming that we're either lesser people than the scots or to assume we consider ourselves better than everyone else, it's arrogant to assume and generalise.

i was in Gretna at a wedding last year, loads of european flags were flying, the St George flag was ripped down though. this wouldn't happen to the St Andrew flag in England but it would more likely happen in Scotland. how do you excuse this kind of thing?

there's a town called Corby in the english midlands not far from me, it's more or less overran by scots. nobody stops them from flying their flags all year out their windows or wearing rangers/scottish shirts. but i'va actually been told in the past never to wear an England shirt or wave an England flag around there, but it's in England ffs lol.

i swear, there's scots that are offended about us being patriotic about our own country, they make such a huge fuss about it. yet they feel it's alright for every other nation including them to be patriotic with their own.

this blind hatred towards the english isn't actually any different to the hooligan mob mentality, and Scotland also has their own hooligan firms too.

this isn't about anything else apart from a fact that you hate the english, but the weird thing is like others you don't really know why. you're generalising and judging the entire english public by a few hooligans and other unfactual information, many other major country has a hooligan problem. scotland, no exception.

in fact where we are unequal these days is that the scots still has say over english taxes whereas we don't have any say over Scottish taxes. kind of a one-sided devolution and they still hate us. this big hooligan mentality attitude against the english is a big curse on Scotland, fortunately though i know well enough not to make a generalisation. i've lived in Scotland and many don't have a problem with the english and most of the time it's just light banter anyway between the vast majority, even during a footie derby...but you'll always get your chavs.

anyway t's the 21st century now. time to get over the battle of Culludon and get along with your fellow british neighbours. after all, you're all about as european as us, and definitely british.
