The Verve is a great band. Their first Album "A storm in heaven" was released in 1993 (if I remember right). Great songs from that album are "Slide away" (that name rings a bell, doesn't it) and "blue". In 1995 they released their second album "northern soul"..a real classic that one. Just listen to "a new decade", "this is music", "a northern soul" or especially "history". In 1997 they released their final and most acclaimed album "urban hymns"...I suppose that I don't have to say more about that album. In 1998 they split up...and just recently they anounced their come back . I' m really looking forwart to a new album.

Come back???
Great news. I love Richard Ashcrofts solo stuff to. What a voice he has...
From wikipedia
On June 26, 2007 the band's reunion was announced by Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1. The Verve is to release an album at the end of the northern hemisphere summer of 2007 which will coincide with a tour in November 2007. The tour starts in Glasgow on November 2nd, and will include performances at The Carling Academy Glasgow, The Empress Ballroom and the London Roundhouse.[2] The band stated it was "Getting back together for the joy of the music".[3] Missing from the band line-up is Simon Tong, who continues to work with The Good, the Bad and the Queen.
The initial aftermath of the reunion announcement was followed by an overwhelming outpour of excitement amongst their fans. While band management opted for the strategy of booking a limited number of tour dates, out of fear of a deterioration in fan base, tickets for their six-gig tour slated for early November 2007 sold out in less than 20 minutes. The band's newly created MySpace page had been visited 30,000 times in its first two weeks. This has created circulation rumors that the band will eventually hold a gig in their hometown of Wigan; almost ten years after their well-remembered concert at Haigh Hall that was attended by 40,000 fans.
Yeeeeessss! I'm gonna see them in London December 13th.. I can't wait. This is music!!!!
If anyone in the forum is going let me know (pm or just answer the post). Would be cool to meet you there and "f**kin hav it"!
I think there still are tickets for London if anybody wants to come along. And if there aren't, I still might have a spare one...so if anybody is interested, let me know.

Come to Perth!!! They wont but would love em too!!
If their new album is a success, they just might do a big tour and go to australia.
i watched them at The Roundhouse Thetre on Nov 8th, i have to say best gig ever, it went on for just over 2 hours, admittedly even topping all the Oasis gigs i've been to. The venue was perfect, the setlist was fantastic and that night they lost none of their shine
Some of the songs i hoped they'd play and did:
Bittersweet Symphony (obvious)
Gravity Grave
Life's an Ocean
The Drugs Don't Work
Lucky Man
Sonnet
History.
This Is Music
the gig at the 02 was great. But I suppose yours was better...more rock n' roll. that 02 arena is just the opposite of rock n roll. we had seats on the highest balcony almost at the far end of the arena. people around us weren't fully into the music (during drugs don't work somebody got up to go to the loo...can you believe that?). the set list was a bit shorter than at your gig I suppose, cos they had to make sure people could catch their trains. but the band was up for it and the vibe was great anyway.
did you also think that richard's voice had a more rock n roll edge to it than at his solo concerts?
glad you had a good time. good job you didn't do the Nottingham gig as apparantly it was pretty bad, mistakes made, and they didn't play Gravity Grave.
well it's the first time i've seen the verve or RA live myself when i saw them at The Roundhouse, but i would say he is more rock'n'roll when he's with the verve than solo def. glad he kept the classic black hair at the roundhouse gig too, otherwise some of that vibe wouldn't of been there for me being my first verve gig and never seeing RA live before. if they ever do that venue again, i recommend you get a ticket even if it meant no more verve gigs from thereafter, to say it was something special is an understatement. i've now got the audio of the gig, puts me on a high just thinking about it. one of those personal gigs where you walk away knowing you've just seen History (scuse the pun)
