Indeed he has, and the fans have the right to be demanding to Liam now as well, because, when it comes to record production, he's done very little for Oasis during the band's lifetime.

why surrender?

good point. we do expect a lot from him considering the situation, but he's not a music guru like Noel, has done little or none production or other processes needed in making an album. so if he wants to make an album, I think it's only fair that he does it in his own way and in his own time; he's fairly new to this and he wants to get it right. plus assuming leadership (if he has indeed or has Gem/Andy) is tricky for him I presume. we might have high expectations, but we should have consideration as well.

It wasn't a surrender, it was more a "not worth fighting because of a member of our favourite band"

I agree, at the end of the day it all boils down to the famous "Let's wait and see (listen to)"
