I'm also baffled how Portugal have risen and we've fell
They struggled to qualify and we did so with ease winning 9 from 10

But, after the qualification group stage ended, we played 2 more matches (the playoff), winning both of them, while England played one more, losing that friendly against Brazil. Result: more points for us. Anyway, the November FIFA ranking will not be taken into account for the WC draw, so technically England (and others) will be in Pot 1, while Portugal will be in Pot 2. That means that England can be in the same group as Portugal, in the WC - aren't you guys happy?

in other words the FIFA rankings are a load of bollocks.
They have to be to be honest, example Mexico always have a high ranking, but look who else they play against, so its no surprise
